Do you have young children who love watching youtube videos, but struggle to monitor what content they are actually watching – constantly battling with how much screen time they should have….?
As a parent, I am totally guilty…“sure kids, you can have 1 hour on the iDevices watching MineCraft/Funny clips etc.. but remember when the timer buzzes, time to hand-back the iDevices…” An hour quickly comes and goes, and usually with the kids responding…“just another 10 minutes dad”…somehow that initial hour ends up being 4 hours or more.
But thanks to Google Inc.. and recommendation from a work colleague! An awesome app called YouTube Kids has been designed and developed for curious little minds to dive into a world of discovery, learning and entertainment. With this simple (and free!) app, kids can discover videos, channels and playlists they love.
The YouTube Kids app has specifically been designed to make exploration easy, videos in the app are split into four categories: Shows, Music, Learning and Explore. All the complicated stuff removed, big buttons for easy navigation, scrolling, and instant full-screen. Even the ability to restrict your child’s experience by turning search off in the set-up flow or by accessing the settings behind the “grown-ups only” lock. This means your child can’t search for content, which reduces the chances that they will encounter a video you don’t want them to watch.
Another cool features is the built-in timer to let kids know when it’s time to stop watching so you don’t have to remember…so no more “just another 10 minutes dad”
